Richard C. Balough Participates in ABA Data Security Panel

Richard C. Balough was one of the participants in a panel discussion on “Online Privacy & Data Security Soup to Nuts: A Primer and Update on Important Developments for the Business Lawyer.”

The four-member panel shared an overview of the most important U.S. federal privacy and data security laws and regulations, the development of similar laws and regulations in various states, and an overview of Canadian national and provincial regulations. The program additionally touched briefly on the EU privacy directive and related laws and regulations.

The panelists also offered some recommended best practices for business attorneys as they help clients address data security and privacy protection. The May 2015 webinar was sponsored by the Cyberspace Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. Over 500 attorneys logged into the program.
