Pioneer Press Quotes Balough As Privacy Expert
The Pioneer Press quoted Richard C. Balough as an expert in privacy in an article dealing with the planned use by the Wilmette Police Department of cameras to read license plate numbers. The police department is equipping one of its patrol cars with a camera that reads the license plate numbers and then feeds the information into a database containing wanted persons, traffic violators and other lawbreakers.
In the article Balough was asked whether the use of the camera violates a person’s right of privacy. He responded that there was no privacy issue involved since license plates “”are out there in public view and there is no expectation of any privacy when you’re driving around.””
