New York Daily News Quotes Balough on Privacy Issues
People need to be careful of credit information that they give or throw away, Richard C. Balough said in an article appearing in the New York Daily News.
In an article discussing what steps consumers can take to protect their credit, the Daily News cited Balough as an expert in privacy rights. Balough told the newspaper that consumers should check store receipts against the credit card statement and then shred the receipts since a trash can is a potential source for identity theft. In addition, he recommended that consumers keep tabs on credit card accounts by checking the accounts on line to look for potential problems before you receive your monthly statement. “Don’t use your mother’s maiden name as a security code, it’s getting too common and it’s easy for someone to get,” Balough told the Daily News.
